We were almost a little sad to leave Charleville, we felt that there was more to this little town(dubbed the big smoke around the district). A spit roast lamb dinner, billy tea that the kids made for the guests, and bumping into our neighbours sister topped off a fantastic last night. We fitted in our solar viewing and on the morning we were leaving, we popped into the QLD school of distance education. We were able to sit in on a class, Megan was listening so intently as the 5 children in the class were all the same age as her. She was a little bewildered by the thought of not being in the same room as your teacher and tags the kids only meet their teacher in person a couple of times a year. It was great for her to know that there are many ways of learning.
We were headed for Longreach next and not really sure how far we were going to get, Peter was a little under the weather and we had low expectations if how he would travel. We made it it Tambo for lunch, stopping at a great little playground just off the main road, it's so nice with the expanda, just to be able to pull over and make lunch so easily. After the kids stretched their legs, we made a beeline for the artesian pool at Blackall. A refreshing swim was just what we needed, and we felt so good we decided to push on another hour to Barcaldine. The park there was lovely, music and damper and great amenities, was just a bummer we got the last site and were about 5 metres off the main highway. Them road trains are noisy! On the road early and Longreach bound!
